Job summary

Southern Illinois Healthcare (SIH) is seeking a registered nurse to provide professional nursing care for SIH patients. The role entails assessing needs, developing and implementing care plans, and working with the multidisciplinary team to ensure quality patient outcomes.

The position requires an Illinois RN license and nursing education at least to an associate degree, with multiple certifications or training programs listed for unit coverage.

Qualifications

• Associate or higher nursing degree required.
• Current Illinois RN license.
• ACLS/PALS/NRP certifications and related unit-specific trainings listed in the job posting.

Responsibilities

• Assess patients to determine mental, physical, and spiritual needs.
• Establish a compassionate environment to provide emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patient and families.
• Plans, implements, and evaluates an individual plan of care with the care team.
• Provide health teaching and counseling to promote optimal health.
• Demonstrate clinical judgement and critical thinking to respond to changes in patient condition.
• Complete accurate documentation in the patient chart.
• Contribute to policy/procedure development for patient safety and quality.
• Supervise licensed practical nurses and unlicensed staff as assigned.
• Advocate for patients by collaborating with health professionals.
• Complete required education, competencies, and licensure timely.
• Float to SIH units within competency.

Role Specific Responsibilities

• Assess patients to determine mental, physical, and spiritual needs
• Establish a compassionate environment to provide emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patient and families
• Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates an individual plan of care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary health care team.
• Provide in health teaching and counseling to promote, attain, and maintain the optimum health level of patients
• Demonstrate ability to use clinical judgement in conjunction with critical thinking to recognize, act upon, and report changes in patient condition.
• Complete, accurate and timely documentation in patient medical record
• Provide input into the development of policies and procedures to support patient safety and quality of care
• Supervision and delegation responsibilities of licensed practical nurse and/or unlicensed assistant personnel
• Serve as an advocate for the patient by communicating and collaborating with other health service professionals
• Timely completion of required education, competencies, and licensure.
• Float to other SIH nursing units within competency level

Compensation

Commensurate with experience): $31.25 To $49.06
