As an integral member of the Yale New Haven Health System (YNHHS) healthcare team, the Registered Professional Nurse (RN) upholds the YNHHS mission, vision, values, and strategic initiatives to provide the highest level of patient-centered care. The RN practices professional nursing within the legal and ethical framework established by the Connecticut Nurse Practice Act, American Nurses Association Scope and Standards for Nursing Practice, ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses, and the YNHHS Professional Practice Model. The role of the RN includes leadership, delegation, collaboration, effective communication, and ensuring quality outcomes. YNHHS nurses practice within a framework that emphasizes autonomy and accountability, utilizing evidence and data to support patient and family-centered care.
Responsibilities
Qualifications
Education: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred. Current BCLS certification required within one month of hire.
Experience: All RNs are encouraged to advance through the SPIRE clinical program. Minimum of 2 years of critical care experience (pediatric experience preferred); PALS certification required.
Licensure: Licensed and registered in Connecticut. Specialty certification is highly encouraged.
Skills and Physical Demands: Must be able to stand, walk, and perform physical tasks including lifting patients up to 300 pounds. Exposure to infectious diseases and emotional stress is possible.
Additional Information: The RN must have a minimum of 2 years of critical care experience, with pediatric experience preferred. PALS certification is required.
