Responsibilities

1. Standards of Practice: Guided by ANA standards, including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation to deliver competent nursing care.
2. Standards of Professional Performance: Encompass ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health. The RN demonstrates accountability and professionalism in these areas.

Qualifications

Education

Graduation from an accredited nursing school. BSN preferred. Current BCLS certification required within one month of hire.

Experience

All RNs are encouraged to advance through the SPIRE clinical program.

Licensure

Licensed and registered in Connecticut. Specialty certification is highly encouraged.

Skills & Physical Demands

Requires prolonged standing, walking, and use of senses. May be exposed to infectious diseases, physical, mental, and emotional stress, end-of-life situations. Must assist with patient handling up to 300 pounds.
