Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, ME is seeking a Registered Nurse Preceptor for the Emergency Services department. The role focuses on mentoring staff, guiding patient care, and maintaining high standards within a fast-paced ED setting.
The ideal candidate will have an RN license, BLS/ACLS/PALS or ENPC, and at least one year in an acute care or ED environment. Preceptor training is required, with BSN preferred.

The Registered Nurse Preceptor functions as a teacher and mentor in guiding, directing and supervising technical nursing activities of the nurse preceptee. Provides guidance and consultation when needed, regarding effective patient care and scope of practice. Creates formal and informal learning opportunities for peers regarding practice issues, technology and/or current research, identifies and intervenes when staff weaknesses are identified. The Registered Nurse Preceptor is responsible for the oversight of the preceptee in the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. The Registered Nurse is directly responsible for the care given to his/her assigned patients. He/She communicates with the physician, nurse director, coworkers about changes in the patient’s clinical condition including hemodynamic monitoring, results of diagnostic studies and abnormal results and symptomatology. Is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition and/or response to treatment. Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality. Works collaboratively with patients, patients’ family, significant other(s) and hospital staff to achieve goals and outcomes.
Central Maine Medical Center offers competitive compensation and a reasonable compensation estimate for this role is $37.80 to $54.75 per hour. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
