Job summary

Prime Healthcare is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Emergency Department at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, ME. This is a full-time position covering night shifts from 7 PM to 7 AM.

The RN will provide direct patient care and rapid assessments in a dynamic environment, ensuring compliance with safety standards and actively participating in critical clinical decision-making. Preferred qualifications include a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and various certifications.

Qualifications

Overview

Registered Nurse (RN) – Emergency Department

Location: Central Maine Medical Center, Lewiston, ME

Full-time | Nights | 7p–7a | 12-Hour Shifts

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides safe, patient-centered care utilizing the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) in a fast-paced Emergency Department (ED). Responsible for direct patient care, rapid assessment, triage, emergency response, and critical clinical decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Deliver direct patient care in the Emergency Department (ED)
• Perform rapid assessment, triage, and prioritization of care
• Respond to acute changes, trauma, and life-threatening conditions
• Interpret labs, diagnostics, and patient symptoms
• Communicate patient status with physicians and interdisciplinary teams
• Administer medications, IV therapy, and emergency treatments
• Educate patients and families on care and discharge instructions
• Ensure compliance with EMTALA, HIPAA, and patient safety standards
• Report suspected abuse/neglect per regulatory requirements
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation

Qualifications

• Current and valid state RN License.
• Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
• Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
• Current PALS certificate and/or ENPC 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
• Basic Arrhythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire.
• Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Facility specific requirements (may require items listed below):
• In Paramedic Base Station ED: MICN within 12 months of hire and maintain current.
• EDAP certified facilities: Completion of emergency pediatric course 1 and 2 within 6 months of hire.
• Non-OB facilities: NRP certificate 90 days upon hire and maintain current.
• Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNNC) within 12 months of hire required.
