Job Summary

The Registered Nurse is a professional nurse registered in Massachusetts responsible for planning and providing patient care for assigned patients in accordance with Nursing Standards of Care as set forth in the Nursing Department's Clinical Practice Manual. The nurse demonstrates initiative, knowledge, and clinical skills in caring for patients with complex needs. The RN manages patients by assuming full responsibility for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care, reporting directly to a nurse manager or supervisor.

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care for specific assignments.
  • Prioritize care based on patient acuity.
  • Maintain clear and concise communication.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of growth and development in adult and geriatric patients, applicable to NICU and Obstetrics for neonates.
  • Document patient care clearly and in compliance with standards.
  • Develop comprehensive care, educational, and discharge plans based on assessments and team input.
  • Evaluate and revise care plans to meet goals.
  • Participate in quality management and improvement programs.
  • Ensure a safe environment for all.
  • Administer medications safely and perform nursing procedures efficiently.
  • Use equipment safely and understand infection control practices.
  • Interact professionally with patients, families, and colleagues.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines and uphold the ANA code of ethics.
  • Participate in unit and organizational goal setting, committees, and educational programs.
  • Support research and utilize findings in practice.
  • Manage resources effectively and participate in staff orientation and evaluation.
  • Adhere to policies, recommend improvements, and support team efforts.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required.
  • Registered Nurse license in Massachusetts.
  • Minimum 3 years current ED Level I trauma experience; ACLS/BLS and TNCC required.

  • Ability to work under stress with good communication and interpersonal skills.
