The ED handles about 15,600 visits per year with a focus on rapid, coordinated care in a high‑acuity environment. Eligible candidates hold an active Indiana RN license (or NLC), have 1 year ER experience, and certification in BLS.

This unit provides 24-hour provision of patient care services to populations ranging from infant to elderly. The Emergency Department is problem focused, addressing the most urgent and relevant clinical needs of patients during their emergency visit. The ED averages 15,600 patient visits per year and is staffed by IU Health Southern Indiana Physicians Emergency Medicine providers. The clinician is exposed to a breadth of clinical work not experienced in most other units. Technology includes electronic medical records, including physician order entry. Nurses work with independent care providers including nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and board-certified emergency physicians.
