Job summary

Saint Mary’s Health Network in Reno, NV seeks an experienced Staff RN for the Emergency Department. You will be responsible for direct patient care, communicating with physicians about changes in condition and test results, and maintaining precise care records. Knowledge of EMTALA and abuse reporting is essential.

Requirements include NV RN license, BLS, ACLS, PALS, and preferred TNCC, ENA, and CEN certifications. This is a full-time position with shift variability in a dynamic ED environment.

Qualifications

• Must be able to communicate in English (Speak, Write).
• Current and valid Nevada RN License.
• BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications required.
• TNCC certification within 12 months of hire preferred.
• ENA membership within 12 months of hire preferred.
• CEN certification within 24 months of hire preferred.

Responsibilities

• The Staff RN is directly accountable for the care given to patients in the Emergency Department.
• Communicate with the physician about changes in patients’ clinical condition, diagnostic results, and symptoms.
• Maintain accurate and relevant records of all patient care; adhere to EMTALA rules and report child/adult abuse as required.
• Assist in cost containment and accurate charging for patient services.

Responsibilities

The Staff RN is directly accountable for the care given to patients in the Emergency Department. He / She will communicate with the physician about the changes in the patients’ clinical condition including results of the diagnostic studies and symptomatology. The staff RN recognizes life threatening situation/ changes in conditions and/or responses to treatment quickly and accurately responds. The Staff RN maintains accurate and relevant record of all patient care. The Staff RN is knowledgeable about EMTALA regulations and reporting of child/adult abuse to appropriate agencies. The Staff RN actively participating in cost containment and assisting in accurate charging for patient services.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

• Minimum of one year as a staff nurse in an acute care hospital setting; E.R. setting preferred
• Must be able to communicate in English (Speak, Write)
• Current and valid Nevada RN License.
• BLS (AHA) certification required
• ACLS (AHA) certification required
• PALS (AHA) certification required
• TNCC (Trauma Nurse Core Course) certification within 12 months of hire preferred
• ENA (Emergency Nurse Association) membership within 12 months of hire preferred
• CEN (Certified Emergency Nurse) certification within 24 months of hire preferred
