UChicago Medicine AdventHealth in Glendale Heights, IL is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for a night-weekend shift in a full-time position. The role involves comprehensive clinical assessments, care planning, and coordinating multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality patient care.

The candidate will hold an Associate's Degree in Nursing (BSN preferred), be licensed as RN, with BLS and ACLS/PALS as required by specialty.

Qualifications

• Experience in emergency department settings is required.
• Must be able to use high-level abstract reasoning to assess patients and revise care plans.
• Proficient in documenting in electronic medical records.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments of patients’ physical, mental, and emotional health.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans based on assessments.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary care among physicians, nurses, social workers and therapists.
• Monitor patient progress and adjust care plans as needed.
• Communicate with patients, families and the healthcare team to keep everyone informed.
• Document assessments, interventions and outcomes in the medical record.

Job Description:

• Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments to evaluate patients' physical, mental, and emotional health.


• Develop and implement individualized care plans based on assessment findings and patient needs.


• Coordinate multidisciplinary care by facilitating collaboration among healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, social workers, and therapists.


• Monitor patient progress, regularly review, and adjust care plans based on patient responses and outcomes.


• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team to ensure everyone is informed and involved in the care process.


• Document patient information accurately, including assessments, care plans, interventions, and outcomes in the patient's medical record.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Skills required to work in the emergency department as defined by unit


• Must be able to use a high level of abstract reasoning to assess patients, evaluate interventions, and revise the plan of care according to patient outcomes


• Basic computer skills – must be able to navigate Microsoft Windows-based programs


• Demonstrated proficiency in acute-care nursing, knowledge, and skills


• Valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, and valid AHA Advanced life support certification (ACLS, PALS, NRP) per specialty/unit requirements


• Internship and/or preceptorship dependent upon nursing experience


• Unit-specific competencies met per orientation pathway


• The majority of employees will require a minimum of 12 months after orientation completed to achieve proficiency

Work Experience:

• 1+ 12 lead ekg experience [Required]


• 1+ acute hospital experience [Preferred]

Licenses and Certifications:

• Certified Clinical Perfusionist (CCP) [Preferred]


• Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) [Preferred]


• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) [Preferred]

• Neonatal Resuscitation Program - Advanced (NRP-A) [Preferred]


• Registered Nurse (RN) [Required]


• Trauma Nurse Course Certified (TNCC) [Preferred]
