Job summary

Saint Joseph Hospital - Elgin seeks an experienced Registered Nurse to deliver safe patient care in the Emergency Department within Telemetry. You will guide patient and family teaching and supervise nursing staff, while staying accountable for care quality and privacy.

The role requires active RN licensure, BLS, ALS, PALS/ENPC, with CEN and BSN preferred. Night shifts are offered as part of a comprehensive benefits package under Saint Joseph Hospital - Elgin.

Qualifications

• Current and valid state RN License.
• Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintaining.
• Current ALS certificate within 30 days of hire and maintaining.
• Current PALS certificate and/or ENPC within 60 days of hire and maintaining.
• CEN certification preferred.
• BSN preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in the Emergency Department within Telemetry and nursing scope of practice.
• Direct and guide patient/family education and activities of other nursing personnel.
• Communicate changes in patient condition to physicians, including test results and symptoms.
• Respond rapidly and accurately to changes in condition and treatment.
• Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality and adherence to EMTALA and reporting requirements.

Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse is responsible for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. Provides direct patient care within the scope of practice. The Registered Nurse also directs and guides patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing care in Telemetry. The Registered Nurse is directly responsible and accountable for the care given to his/her patients in the Emergency Department. They communicate with the physician about the changes in the patient’s clinical condition including results of the diagnostic studies and symptomatology. Is capable of responding quickly and accurately to changes in the condition and/or response to treatment. Is knowledgeable about EMTALA regulations and reporting of child/adult abuse to appropriate agencies and Hospital Social Worker. Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

1. Current and valid state RN License.2. Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.3. Current ALS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current. 4. Current PALS certificate and/or ENPC 60 days upon hire and maintain current. 5. Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred.6. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Facility Specific Requirements (facility may require items listed below):

1. ECRN or MICN certificate required within 12 months of hire and maintained current 2. EDAP certified facilities: Completion of required annual education 3. Non-OB facilities: NRP certificate 90 days upon hire and maintain current.4. Trauma designated facilities: Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) required within 12 months of hire and maintain. Non-trauma facilities, TNCC preferred.

A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $35.35 to $53.58. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
