Job summary

Saint Francis Hospital seeks a Registered Nurse to provide safe patient care in the Emergency Department and Telemetry, following the nursing process and coordinating with physicians on patient status and diagnostic results.

Responsibilities include directing patient/family teaching and supervising other nursing staff, while maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality in a fast-paced environment. Certifications such as BLS/ALS/PALS and a BSN are highly valued.

Qualifications

• Current and valid state RN License.
• BLS certificate required at hire and maintained.
• ALS certificate within 30 days and maintained.
• PALS certificate and/or ENPC within 60 days and maintained.
• Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• ECRN or MICN certificate within 12 months of hire and maintained.
• Trauma-related certifications (e.g., TNCC) within 12 months of hire; TNCC preferred for non-trauma facilities.

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe patient care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Provide direct patient care within the scope of practice in Telemetry and ED.
• Direct and guide patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing staff.
• Communicate with physicians about changes in patient condition and test results.
• Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality; comply with EMTALA regulations.

Provides direct patient care within the scope of practice. The Registered Nurse also directs and guides patient/family teaching and activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing care in Telemetry. The Registered Nurse is directly responsible and accountable for the care given to his/her patients in the Emergency Department. They communicate with the physician about the changes in the patient’s clinical condition including results of the diagnostic studies and symptomatology. Is capable of responding quickly and accurately to changes in the condition and/or response to treatment. Is knowledgeable about EMTALA regulations and reporting of child/adult abuse to appropriate agencies and Hospital Social Worker. Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

• Current and valid state RN License.
• Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
• Current ALS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
• Current PALS certificate and/or ENPC 60 days upon hire and maintain current.
• Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) preferred.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Facility Specific Requirements (facility May Require Items Listed Below)

• ECRN or MICN certificate required within 12 months of hire and maintained current
• EDAP certified facilities: Completion of required annual education
• Non-OB facilities: NRP certificate 90 days upon hire and maintain current.
• Trauma designated facilities: Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) required within 12 months of hire and maintain. Non-trauma facilities, TNCC preferred.
