Job summary

Lambstaffing is seeking an Emergency Department Registered Nurse traveler for assignment in North Carolina. You will provide room-in/room-out ED care, perform trauma and stroke assessments, and manage cardiac rhythms with acute care skills. Expect floating per regional needs and adherence to unit protocols.

Ideal candidates hold ALCS, PALS, and NIHSS with at least 1 year in ED; references available upon request. Housing and travel stipends may be provided by the agency.

Qualifications

• ED RN: Trauma experience, Stroke experience, cardiac rhythm interpretation, conscious sedation, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain/tube management, critical care drips, blood administration.

Responsibilities

• Float to facilities within Region as needed per scope of practice.
• Support ED operations with patient throughput and critical care skills.

• Radius rule: Traveler’s permanent address must be 50 miles outside of home unit

Unit Information

• ED RN: 2 years ED exp (Resource Team)
• First-time travelers: Not preferred but will consider (Resource Team)

Patient Types/Common Diagnoses

• Trauma level 3 – GSW, Stabbing, MVA, Falls, Stroke, Heart Failure, Chest pain, patient requiring fluid resuscitation/blood products, COPD, Cardiac Cath pre, ETOH/CIWA, IVDA, mental health, Respiratory illnesses, GI Disorders and infections, Liver Failure, AKI/CKD

Patient Ratios

• RN: 1:5 max (acuity dependent)

Required License, National Certification, Certs (BLS, ACLS, etc.), or other position specific requirements such as Driver's License and/or Insurance

• ED RN: Required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, CPI; Preferred: TNCC

Skills required

• ED RN: Trauma experience, Stroke experience, cardiac rhythm interpretation, conscious sedation, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain/tube management, critical care drips, blood administration, etc.

Support within the Department

• CNA – ratios vary
• Receptionist/HUC
• Charge nurse, 24/7 – may or may not have patients

Technology/Equipment

• EMR: EPIC
• IV Pump: Alaris
• Med dispensing: Omnicell
• Monitors: Phillips

Floating

• Will be required to float per region needs – will require floating to all facilities listed below, as needed, within scope of practice –DECLINE if not agreeable
• Region 1 - Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, any Freestanding ED within Region, Lake Norman, Central Division (CMC Main + Mercy + LCH)
• If floating mid-shift, Traveler will be paid for the time traveling between facilities (will remain on the clock)

Orientation (facility and unit)

• NEO
• 2 days departmental

Scheduling

• Weekend rotation: every other
• No call for travelers
• Holiday Expectations: Travelers will work 75% of holidays
• RTO: Can approve up to 6 days off, excluding holidays – must add time to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours
