Job summary

Qualifications

• Must have minimum 2 years RN clinical experience in an Ambulatory Clinic setting.
• Must have minimum 3 years RN experience with punch and shave biopsies in Dermatology Ambulatory Clinic.
• Must have minimum 3 years RN Mohs surgery experience in Dermatology Ambulatory Clinic.
• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in California and CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.
• Assist with Mohs surgery, BCC/SCC excisions, laser procedures and cosmetic treatments.
• Administer medications and support patient education in outpatient setting.

Under the Direction of the nurse manager and guided by the policies and procedures of Ambulatory Services, The RN utilizes the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide safe, therapeutic care. Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary and nursing teams; carries out established nursing procedures and performs related duties as required; assists with surgical and cosmetic procedures as determined by patient need and may include but not limited to Mohs Micrographic excisions and repairs; assisting with BCC and SCC excisions and repairs, laser, Botox and Restylane treatments, performs laser hair removal and triages patient phone calls and messages. Assists with the management of patient care administered by other members of the nursing team. They are expected to be proficient in the electronic medical record (EMR) system of the Medical Center (EPIC/APeX). They are also required to adhere to the Telephone and House Standards as adopted by the Medical Center.

In collaboration with the physician and nursing staff, the RN has the clinical responsibility for maintaining a safe environment for patients and staff, and for daily operations. The RN is a team player who works closely with others and who is flexible in dealing with the changing priorities. They are a self-reliant individual who synthesizes their knowledge of practice operations to problem-solve, prioritize, and facilitate complex transactions during their daily activities. They are responsible for administering medications, assisting with a variety of procedures, practicing basic assessment of patient medical and psycho-social needs, participating in patient education, and assisting medical providers in a variety of ways. All components of nursing care will be individualized to meet the patient's physiological and psychosocial developmental level and needs.

The clinical nurse has excellent oral and written communication skills; can work well with minimal supervision in a complex, fast pace and challenging environment. They are sensitive to the needs of patients, staff, and providers at all times. This position makes a difference for patients in an outpatient care unit by providing excellent nursing care and customer service, facilitating and ensuring the accuracy of the information flow between medical, hospital staff and departments to maximize unit efficiency. They consistently project a professional and courteous demeanor and as well as demonstrating UCSF's PRIDE values and the AIDET fundamentals of communication in all patient care and stakeholder interactions.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum 2 years of recent Registered Nurse clinical experience in an Ambulatory Clinic Setting
• Minimum 3 years of recent Registered Nurse clinical experience with punch and shave biopsies in Dermatology Ambulatory Clinic
• Minimum 3 years of recent Registered Nurse clinical experience in Mohs Surgery in Dermatology Ambulatory Clinic
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience in Laser Hair Removal Treatment in Ambulatory Clinic setting

Required Licenses/Certifications:

• Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of California
• Current American Heart Association CPR Certification

Preferred Qualification:

• Experience with Quality Improvement projects
