Job summary

Ascension Seton Medical Center in Austin, TX is seeking a skilled Scrub/Circulating Nurse for the CVOR Surgical Services team. You’ll assist the operating physician, prepare rooms and instruments, and monitor patient status before, during, and after procedures.

Qualifications

• Current RN license required at time of hire.
• CRN credential obtained prior to hire or transfer date.
• ACLS within 6 months; BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer.

Responsibilities

• Performs scrub functions: selection and handling of instruments and supplies during procedures.
• Performs circulating functions: monitor/record patient condition and manage nursing care before, during and after procedures.
• Directly assists operating physician with hemostasis, suturing and wound exposure, including patient positioning.
• Prepares operating rooms and surgical instruments/equipment for use.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Performs scrub functions including the selection and handling of instruments and supplies used during procedure.
• Performs circulating functions including monitoring, recording and communicating patient condition and managing overall nursing care of patient before, during and after procedure.
• Directly assists operating physician with surgical tasks including hemostasis, suturing and wound exposure as well as patient positioning.
• Prepares operating rooms and surgical instruments and equipment for use.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• Required Credential(s):
  • Certified Registered Nurse obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • One or more of the following:
    • Certified Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
    • Certified BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing required. OR Required professional licensure at time of hire.
