Job summary

Ascension Seton Medical Center in Austin, TX is seeking an experienced RN for the CVICU to expertly manage ECMO, Impella, IABP and VAD support. You’ll care for post-CABG, valve replacement and transplant patients with swift responses to emergencies.

Qualifications

• RN license required, compact license for travel preferred.
• ACLS and BLS obtained within required timeframe.
• Diploma from accredited nursing program; 1 year of RN acute care experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage ECMO, Impella, IABP, and VAD for cardiogenic shock patients.
• Care for post-CABG, valve replacement, and transplant patients, including chest tube management.
• Titrate inotropes and vasopressors guided by Swan-Ganz catheter data.
• Rapid intervention for post-op emergencies like tamponade, arrhythmias, or hemorrhage.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Expert management of ECMO, Impella, IABP, and VAD for patients in cardiogenic shock.
• Specialized care for post-CABG, valve replacement, and transplant patients, including chest tube management.
• Precision titration of inotropes and vasopressors guided by Swan-Ganz catheter data and cardiac output monitoring.
• Rapid intervention for post-op emergencies like cardiac tamponade, arrhythmias, or acute hemorrhage.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Registered Nurse obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required. Must have compact RN license or state RN license relevant to travel assignment location prior to start of assignment.

Education:

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing required.

Work Experience:

• One year of RN experience in an acute care setting required.

What additional preferences we're seeking

• 1+ year of acute care experience
• Cardiac Advanced Device Therapy Management at minimum of IABP/IMPELLA/Swan-Ganz Management
• Applicable license and/or certification per contract requirements required
