Job summary

Reston Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Critical Care Unit to coordinate and deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in collaboration with physicians and the care team.

You will advocate for patients and families, following established nursing models to support outcomes and the organization’s mission and values. This role emphasizes evidence-based practice and continuous improvement in critical care delivery.

Qualifications

  • ACLS certification within 30 days of employment start date.
  • BCLS certification within 30 days of employment start date.
  • RN licensed in applicable state.
  • ADN or equivalent required/expected as nursing degree.

Responsibilities

  • Performs procedures and monitoring as ordered by the medical provider; documents care in the patient record promptly.
  • Educates patients, families, and caregivers about condition, treatment plan, medications, side effects, and follow-up.
  • Provides lifestyle guidance on healthy diet, exercise, prevention, and self-management.
  • Contributes to evidence-based practice and quality improvement to enhance patient care.
  • Collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to customize and deliver holistic treatment plans.

Job Summary

The Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care in accordance with the department's requirements and the scope of practice for the relevant state and specialty. In collaboration with medical providers and other members of the care team, the RN provides individualized, comprehensive, and compassionate care using established nursing models such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.” The RN serves as an advocate for patients, families, and caregivers and models a commitment to the organization’s vision, mission, and values to support an unparalleled patient experience and clinical outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Performs procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s). Documents the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Teaches patients, families, and caregivers about patient medical condition, status, treatment plan, medications, potential side effects, and follow-up measures. "Translates complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding."
  • Teaches additional non-medical follow-up measures such as healthy diet, exercise, disease prevention, and lifestyle changes. Prepares patients and families for future self-management.
  • Manages evidence-based practices and continuous process improvement initiatives to meet and exceed quality measures and enhance the care provided to patients.
  • Coordinates, evaluates, customizes, and delivers a holistic patient treatment plan that promotes and supports recovery in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
Qualifications
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) licensed.
  • Associate Degree in Nursing.
