Job summary

CoxHealth South in Springfield, Missouri is seeking a float critical care nurse to deliver direct, individualized care to acutely and critically ill patients in a highly technical monitoring environment.

You will assess conditions, operate and interpret advanced equipment, assist physicians, and document findings while showing leadership, communication, and multitasking in a night-shift role (6:30 PM–7:00 AM) for 36 hours a week.

Qualifications

• RN license active in Missouri.
• BLS must be obtained within 90 days.
• ACLS required within one year of hire.
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care to acutely and critically ill patients.
• Monitor and interpret advanced monitoring equipment.
• Assist physicians with procedures and tests.

Job Description

The float critical care nurse provides direct and individualized care to acutely and critically ill patients, in a highly technical and ongoing monitoring environment. They assess the patient’s condition, perform diagnostic tests, begin treatments and assist doctors with any required medical procedures. The critical care nurse monitors and adjusts specialized equipment, interprets and records electronic displays; i.e. intracranial pressures, central venous pressures, pulmonary artery pressures, cardiac rhythms, ventilator settings, etc.

Education

• Required: Graduate of an accredited nursing program or NLN approved program
• Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing

Experience

• Preferred: Previous nursing experience
