Job summary

Geisinger is seeking experienced registered nurses to deliver patient care across our hospital units. You will apply the nursing process to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care, and collaborate with physicians and the care team to meet patient needs.

Hours vary by unit; every other weekend and holiday requirements. New hires may work under a Temporary Practice Permit until NCLEX; on-the-job mentoring and professional growth opportunities are provided.

Qualifications

• Provides direct patient care including treatments, medications and diagnostic studies per policy.
• Addresses patient and family needs across the continuum of care.
• Collaborates with physicians and interdisciplinary team to plan and implement care.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care including, treatments, medications, and diagnostic studies according to policy and procedure.
• Completes assessments as established by scope of practice and unit standards.
• Addresses physical, psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual needs of patient and family throughout the continuum of care.
• Formulates, coordinates, and provides plan of care with education and discharge planning.
• Evaluates effectiveness of nursing interventions and revises plan of care as needed.
• Initiates collaboration with physicians and other team members to resolve patient needs.
• Directs and alters assignments based on patient status and unit needs.
• Promotes teamwork by delegating tasks according to skill and time.
