Overview

Pay

Base pay range: $98,840.00/hr - $104,000.00/hr. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • 30%: Exercises independent judgment and leadership on daily operations of the unit and advises the Nurse Manager.
  • 30%: Serves as a clinical, educational and supervisory resource to the nursing staff. Manages appropriate utilization of unit resources (i.e., supplies and labor). Performs direct nursing care for assigned patients when indicated (see Job Description for Staff Nurse). Conducts nursing and patient rounds on the unit several times a day. Confers with physicians, as needed, to clarify medical orders and direct care. Serves as a liaison with staff in nursing, medical staff, social work, therapy, nutritional services, pharmacy, etc. to coordinate care. Foster an environment of cultural excellence to maintain patient satisfaction.
  • 20%: Monitors Quality Assessment and Quality Improvement on a monthly basis to ensure appropriate patient care on the unit. Assists unit staff with patient discharges. Provides patients and family members with discharge information regarding medications, follow-up, etc. Ensures the enculturation and implementation of the National Patient Safety Goals and Core Measures as required by regulatory certifying bodies. Manages and resolves unit conflict and executes service recovery principles. Collaborates with Nurse Manager/House Manager to investigate, advise, and when appropriate, execute disciplinary action in accordance with IHMC policies and procedures.
  • 15%: Makes ongoing assessment of staff performance and providing individual/team feedback. Prepares staff performance evaluations in collaboration with the Nurse Manager. Participates in hospital/unit committee/council activities. Ensures professional development of self through participation in seminars, certifications, professional affiliations and educational programs. Collects, complies, and reviews staff development activities for each employee; completes individual follow-up to ensure competencies are met.
  • 5%: Adheres to downtime procedures and established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives. Performs both essential and non-essential job functions in a safe manner. Demonstrates the mission and core values of IHMC through behavior and attitude. Enhances professional growth by attending educational programs, in-service meetings, and workshops/seminars. Performs other related duties as assigned. Functions as interim Nurse Manager as needed. Provides direct patient care on the unit as needed.
Job specifications
  • Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
    • Knowledge: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing; Current RN License in the State of Illinois; Completion of NIH Stroke Scale Training Course within one year of hire in Intensive Care, Telemetry, Stroke Unit, ED.
    • Skills: Current CPR certification; ACLS Certification (Preferred, Required For Critical Care And ER).
    • Abilities: Ability to quickly recognize changes in condition and needs of patients; Knowledge of patients’ growth and development needs; Ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy in carrying out work duties.
