Position Overview

The RN in this role manages communication of critical lab results to patients, ensuring compliance with licensure requirements. Responsibilities include contacting patients, documenting communications, following up on lab escalations, collaborating with providers, educating patients, and serving as a point of escalation for complex inquiries. The RN liaises with the Clinical Conduct Team to resolve issues and assists in training the Member Services team to enhance patient interactions.

Key Duties

• Review and evaluate lab results for timely patient communication.
• Proactively contact patients regarding abnormal results, ensuring clear and compassionate communication.
• Develop patient education initiatives about lab results and next steps.
• Assess urgency of lab findings using critical thinking skills.
• Document all communications accurately in patient records.
• Manage multiple cases efficiently with excellent time management.
• Apply problem-solving skills to troubleshoot data discrepancies.
• Use data analytics to identify trends and improve practices.
• Maintain knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance standards.
• Escalate questions beyond RN scope to licensed providers and document outcomes.
• Address escalations from Member Services related to lab results and communicate resolutions.

Physical & Travel Requirements

• This is a remote position with less than 10% travel; occasional travel may be required.
• Work within an on-call system to ensure coverage during leave.

Qualifications

• Active RN licensure, with a commitment to compliance. Compact licensure required; additional licenses may be necessary.
• BSN or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum 3 years of nursing, clinical research, or related experience.
• Proficiency with EMR systems like Salesforce.
