In addition to the staff nurse role, the Clinical Coordinator assumes shift responsibilities for the care delivery team. Responsibilities include coordinating staff assignment and scheduling, prioritizing, delegating, and evaluating patient care. The coordinator assists in process improvement activities, works with the interdisciplinary team to solve system and unit‑based issues, and provides input into nursing staff performance appraisals. With the Administrative Director or Clinical Manager, the coordinator supplements staffing and takes an abbreviated patient care assignment.
