Position Overview

This role facilitates perioperative nursing care by assisting the surgeon to achieve desired surgical outcomes.

The successful candidate:

• Must be able to work Monday-Friday, 0645-1515, with no call responsibilities.
• Assists with procedures under the supervision of the operating surgeon, providing wound exposure, hemostasis, tissue handling, suturing, wound dressings, drains, and postoperative local anesthesia injections.
• Supports the surgical team by preparing equipment and supplies, maintaining a sterile environment, and performing sponge, needle, and instrument counts per policy.
• Provides direct patient care, evaluates outcomes, and adjusts nursing care to meet legal, ethical, and clinical standards.
• Monitors and controls the surgical environment to ensure optimal conditions.

Qualifications

• Two years’ experience in surgery or completion of an approved training course.
• Current Illinois Registered Nurse License.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
