Job summary

McLaren Health is seeking a PACU nurse to deliver nursing care within the unit’s scope, following hospital policies and nursing standards. The role requires assessing patients, documenting responses, and adjusting plans of care as needed.

Responsibilities include planning and implementing the care plan, patient teaching, and supervising ancillary personnel for technical tasks. Licensure and certifications as required by the unit are mandatory.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Current Michigan State RN license.
• BLS certification as Healthcare Provider.
• ACLS required within six months for RNs in Critical Care, Emergency, Endoscopy, Cardiac Cath Lab, Cardiac Rehab, ICU and Step-Down, Telemetry Floats.
• NRP required for RNs in Labor and Delivery; PALS required for RNs in Pediatrics; PALS and TNCC within one year for the ED.

Position Summary:

Responsible for the delivery of nursing care within the assigned unit scope of practice following hospital policies and procedures, nursing process guidelines, standards of care, and standards of practice.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

1. Assesses each assigned patient, documents and evaluates their response to plan of care, and takes appropriate corrective action.

2. Plans and implements the patient's plan of care/standard of care and provides patient teaching using the plan of care/standard of care.

3. Oversee all ancillary personnel for technical tasks.

Required:

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
• Experience in a specialty area will be considered. Experience specific to the unit/position may be required to maintain overall competency level of unit, as required by regulatory agency.
• Current State of Michigan Registered Nurse license.
• American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS certification as Healthcare Provider.
• Within six months of hire into department, ACLS required for RNs in Critical Care, Emergency, Endoscopy, Cardiac Cath Lab, Cardiac Rehab, Intensive Care Unit and Step-Down, Telemetry Floats. NRP required for RNs in Labor and Delivery; and PALS required for RNs in Pediatrics; PALS and TNCC within one year for the Emergency Department.

Preferred:

• One year of professional nursing experience.
• ACLS preferred in other units.
