Beloit Health System is hiring for a Registered Nurse to join our Cardiac Float Pool at Beloit Memorial Hospital.

In this position the Cardiac Float Pool Registered Nurse will provide nursing care for patients across several units throughout the hospital, including the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, Intermediate Unit, Emergency Room, and the Cardiac Cath Lab.
Responsibilities
- Appropriately assess basic physical, psychological and social needs of patients and their families.
- Effectively plan patient care with patient and family involvement.
- Consistently implement the patient's plan of care.
- Accurately evaluate patient's health status in relation to outcomes of nursing interventions and medical therapies.
- Provide patient and family education appropriately.
- Strictly adhere to infection control policies including body substance isolation and bloodborne pathogen precautions.
- Actively participate in Quality Improvement program.
- Perform unit-specific duties according to established unit-based competencies.
- Complete documentation according to policy.
- Effectively set goals and priorities for provision of care to a group of patients according to acuity.
- Ensure patient safety while handling, transporting and providing medications to patients; protect patients from various hazards, falls, disease exposure, etc.
- Demonstrate ability to perform functions accurately and efficiently with computer software applications appropriate to the position.
- Collaborate with other disciplines to meet patient’s needs.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- ADN, Diploma, BSN or MSN degree acceptable.
- State of Wisconsin or multistate nursing licensure required. Must request WI licensure within 30 days.
- Must be BLS certified within three months of hire.
- ACLS certification required within 6 months of hire.
- Requires the ability to work independently, and to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Telemetry trained within 6 months of hire.
- NIHSS certification within 6 months of hire.
- ASLS certification within 12 months of hire; ALS encouraged.
- Glucometer training within 6 months of hire.
- Moderate sedation training within 6 months of hire.
- CRRT, IABP, Cardiothoracic surgery trained within 12 months of hire.
- Requires excellent communication and counseling technique.
- Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply proper procedures to Beloit Health System policies.
- Employee possesses the training, knowledge, and skills necessary to perform evaluation, treatment, and patient care activities for patients in one or more of the following age groups: neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.
- Successful completion of pre-placement physical examination.
- Involves physical effort that includes full range of body motion including standing, walking for extensive periods of time, and assists with lifting patients up to 25 pounds. Also assists with pushing transport carts weighing 50-200 pounds.
- Required to have manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
- Requires seeing and hearing at a level sufficient to perform job duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Requires working in occasionally stressful conditions or irregular hours.
- Requires exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
Reporting Relationship: Clinical Manager and/or Department Director. Directs: LPN, Nursing Assistant, Health Unit Coordinator.
