Job summary

Boston Medical Center is seeking a Staff Nurse for Ambulatory Pediatrics on a per diem schedule. The nurse will perform assessments, planning, interventions, and coordination of care for pediatric patients and families in compliance with MA regulations and hospital policies.

The role requires MA RN licensure, BLS, and a preference for BSN/ASN or Diploma. Experience in pediatrics and care coordination is valued, with potential ACLS/PALS endorsements.

Qualifications

• Nursing degree: Diploma, ASN or BSN (preferred).
• Ability to obtain BSN within 4 years.
• Registration and current RN licensure in MA in good standing by start date.
• Current BLS certification by start date.
• ACLS and/or PALS certification recommended.

Responsibilities

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Nursing degree: Diploma, ASN or BSN (preferred), Ability to obtain BSN within 4 years

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Required

• Registration and current RN licensure in the state of MA in good standing required by start date
• Requires current basic life support (BLS) certification by start date
• Recommended - Advanced Cardiac Life support (ACLS) and/or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
• Additional certifications may be required for certain practice areas.

Knowledge And Skills

• Basic computer proficiency inclusive of ability to access, enters, and interpret computerized data/information.
• Effective interpersonal skills to facilitate communication with various members of the health care team, patients, and families.
• Organizational skills to set priorities and efficiently complete assigned work. Multilingual skills (beyond that of English) in languages appropriate to the patient populations served by the medical center preferred.
• Relevant clinical experience and/or specialty, certification required for certain practice areas
• Analytical ability to solve clinical nursing issues and conduct quality improvement research utilization projects.
• Ability to effectively delegate appropriate patient care activities.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills appropriate to the patient populations served.
• Physical ability to meet the core job responsibilities in accordance with practice setting demands for the patient populations regularly served.

• Experience working with children with chronic conditions e.g. diabetes, asthma, cardiac, GI, neurology
• Knowledge of socio-emotional developmental stages of children birth through young adult
• Knowledge of childhood/adult immunizations and schedules
• Experience with Care Coordination and Transitions of Care along the continuum with focus on Ambulatory setting i.e. DME, VNA, PA, referrals, transition from child to adol/ adol to adult, etc.
• Knowledge of PIV placement and infusion administration
• Experience performing Telephone Triage in ambulatory setting

Compensation Range

$38.05- $75.33
