  • Educate patients and families, coordinate referrals.

About This Role

The Registered Nurse in Ambulatory Oncology provides comprehensive patient care through assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. This role is ideal for nurses who excel in collaboration and patient education within an oncology setting.

What You'll Do
  • Assess the patient’s physiologic health status through interviews and comprehensive health assessments.
  • Evaluate patient’s psychosocial health status and identify cultural/ethnic requirements.
  • Develop criteria for measuring patient outcomes and establish individualized patient goals.
  • Formulate and document the plan of care in collaboration with physicians and health team members.
  • Implement the plan of care, ensuring safety precautions and effective communication with patients and families.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of care provided and document outcomes for performance improvement.
  • Collaborate with care team members to plan and carry out treatment regimens.
  • Provide wound care and manage pressure ulcers (Stages I–IV).
  • Administer medications correctly and educate patients on drug interactions.
  • Participate in patient and family education, coordinating referrals for follow-up care.
Requirements

Education:

  • Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing; Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred.

Experience:

  • At least 2 years of experience preferred; critical care/ER and oncology experience preferred.

Licenses & Certifications:

  • Current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State required.
  • Specialized certifications as needed.
