Summary

The Wilkes Barre VA Medical Center is currently recruiting for a Registered Nurse - Outpatient Mental Health for our Allentown Outpatient Clinic, located in Allentown, PA.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

1. English Language Proficiency
2. In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7403(f), no person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless proficient in basic written and spoken English.
3. Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ACEN or CCNE). Alternatively, candidates in a master's level bridge program with equivalent coursework, or graduates of foreign schools with current registration, are eligible.
4. Possession of a current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a professional nurse in the U.S.
5. Graduate Nurse Technician (GNT) candidates may be appointed temporarily while pursuing licensure.

7. Physical requirements include the ability to perform duties involving walking, standing, sitting, lifting, bending, and kneeling.

Duties

The Outpatient Mental Health RN is responsible for providing evidence-based, patient-centered care, participating in care coordination, and maintaining professional standards. Responsibilities include administering medications, monitoring lab data, conducting assessments, triaging patients, and participating in interdisciplinary treatment planning. The role also involves leadership duties such as directing patient care, managing supplies, and participating in clinical clinics and group processes.
