Job summary

CHRISTUS Health in Tyler, TX seeks an experienced nurse to provide independent, competent patient care in a hospital setting. The role involves planning and delivering care, delegating when appropriate, and contributing to long-range patient care goals.

The successful candidate will have a BSN preferred, at least 1 year of relevant nursing experience, and active RN license in Texas or a compact state. BLS certification is required and shifts are 12-hour, evenings/nights, full-time.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.
• 1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty preferred.
• BLS required.
• RN license in state of employment or compact credentialing.

Responsibilities

• Provides nursing care utilizing the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention and evaluation) for assigned patients.
• Addresses complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.
• Administers medications and treatments per protocol; monitors side-effects and effectiveness of the treatment.
• Documents patient history, symptoms, medication, and care given.
• Educates patients, family members and/or caregivers; identifies issues and resources.

Provides routine and complex care, with the ability to on long-range goals or plans. Continues to develop the ability to cope with and manage contingencies of clinical nursing. Makes appropriate assignments and delegates to other care providers as a means to help manage the clinical situation.

• Using the appropriate protocol, administers medications and treatments; monitors for side-effects and effectiveness of the treatment prescribed.
• Documents patient history, symptoms, medication, and care given.
• Assess learning needs and provides education to patients, family members and/or care givers; identify issues and resources.
