Nemours in Wilmington, DE is seeking a Nurse to join the Cardiac Step-down Unit, a casual position with 48 hours every six weeks and day/night rotation (7am-7pm and 7pm-7am). The program includes a 3-month precepted orientation with additional didactic support, to prepare you for pediatric cardiac care.

The Nemours Cardiac Center provides comprehensive care for infants and children with complex cardiac conditions.

Qualifications

• Graduate of accredited school of nursing; BSN required or in BSN program.
• Previous healthcare experience preferred.
• DE RN license required (Delaware).
• AHA BLS required.
• Current or eligible for Delaware State Board of Nursing registration.

Responsibilities

• Assesses and documents initial and ongoing needs for children with complex medical and surgical needs.
• Utilizes critical thinking to formulate nursing plan based on patient needs and problems.
• Develops realistic long- and short-term goals based on patient/family needs.
• Implements patient plan of care for patients and family with complex needs.
• Evaluates patient and family response to care and modifies plan accordingly.
• Assists patient and family in discharge planning to ensure needs are met.
• Advocates for patient and family in coordination with the health care team.
• Provides safe nursing care in adherence to Nursing Department standards.

DESCRIPTION

This is a casua; position. It is 48 hours every six weeks day/ night rotating (7am-7pm and 7pm-7am). The Cardiac Step-down Nursing orientation is a rigorous program consisting of a 3 month precepted program which includes both didactic and clinical experience, with an additional 8 months of didactic support . The program is supported by a variety of learning opportunities and experiences.

The Nemours Cardiac Center (NCC) provides comprehensive care for infants, children, and adolescents with complex cardiac, thoracic and vascular disease. The Cardiac Center provides patient care, performs research, and educates and trains health care professionals consistent with the Mission, Vision, and Values of the Nemours Foundation.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• 1. Assesses and documents initial and ongoing needs for children with complex medical and surgical needs.
• 2. Utilizes critical thinking to formulate nursing plan based on patients complex needs and problems. Formulates nursing plan based on patient complex needs and problems and indicates plan on the patient care plan.
• 3. Develops realistic and appropriate long- and short-term goals based patient/family needs.
• 4. Implements patient plan of care for patients and family with both critical and complex needs.
• 5. Evaluates the patient's and family's response to care and modified care plan accordingly.
• 6. Assists patient and family in discharge planning so that problems and care needs are anticipated and met.
• 7. Serves as an advocate for patient and family in working with other members of the health care team.
• 8. Provides safe and appropriate nursing care through adherence to Nursing Department standards.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

A registered nurse responsible and accountable for assessing, planning, and providing care to assigned patients.

• 1. Graduate of accredited school of nursing, BSN required or in BSN program
• 2. Previous experience in healthcare setting preferred

Licenses, Registrations, or Certification:

Must have DE RN License

AHA BLS required

• 1. Current or eligible for registration with Delaware State Board of Nursing.
