Job summary

Rayburn Correctional Center in Angie, LA, is seeking a motivated Registered Nurse to join the Nursing Department and care for inmates within a state correctional facility. Expect to work in a secure environment with a supportive multidisciplinary team and stable schedules.

You will manage a wide spectrum of conditions from emergency response to chronic disease, wound care, and mental health, while adhering to policies and ensuring patient safety and dignity.

Qualifications

• Possession of a current Louisiana Registered Nurse license or a temporary permit or multi-state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state to practice as a registered nurse.
• Provide direct patient care, including administration of medications, IV therapies, blood products, parenteral nutrition, and central line treatments under the guidance of a senior RN.
• Assist in developing and implementing nursing care plans tailored to the needs of patients in assigned units.

• Educate and instruct patients on health, hygiene, and self-administration of prescribed medications, promoting safety and independence.
• Administer medications and treatments safely, accurately, and in compliance with laws, regulations, and clinical policies.

Position-Specific Details

Appointment Type: CLASSIFIED WAE. This position is a ‘when actually employed’ (WAE) position without benefits. Incumbents in these positions may not work more than 1,245 hours or 1 year, whichever comes first.

Compensation

Salary depends on level of experience.
