Job description

Overview

Location: Greater Washington Oncology Associates

Pay Range: $27.81 - $54.82 per hour.

Responsibilities
  • Provide safe, accurate, and efficient patient care, including patient assessment, review of labs and vital signs, medication safety, dose verification, and drug administration.
  • Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, biotherapy, supportive care, and non‑oncologic agents as ordered by providers, following Oncology Nurse’s Society (ONS) standards and guidelines.
  • Properly dispose of biohazardous waste in accordance with OSHA and NIOSH guidelines.
  • Perform new and ongoing patient education, continual assessment, and support.
  • Document all treatments and administrations accurately and timely in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Ensure proper patient identification per Job Breakdown Instructions (JBIs) for all encounters.
  • Educate patients and caregivers about medications, side effects, and treatment plans.
  • Engage in telephone triage: prioritize incoming calls and messages from patients, families, hospitals, nursing facilities, pharmacies, and physician offices, responding appropriately in a timely manner.
  • Assist with inventory and re‑stocking of medical supplies; recommend new items and place stock in storage areas promptly.
  • Complete annual required safety and nursing trainings and attend mandatory staff meetings.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all patient and employee information.
  • Assist in training new employees related to job duties following JBIs.
  • Work at any company location as needed and be prepared for overtime with sufficient notice.
  • Perform any other duties and projects assigned, ensuring compliance with all federal and state laws and regulations related to patient privacy, safety, labor, and employment law.
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, IT policies, and Disaster Plan.
Qualifications
  • Education: Nursing Degree (Bachelor or Associate).
  • Licensing: Unencumbered RN license in the state of employment or multi‑state license.
  • Certifications: Current CPR and BLS certifications; valid driver’s license with vehicle for travel to other clinic locations.
  • Experience: Previous Experience – experience with hematology/oncology patients in a clinic or hospital setting (minimum years of experience: not specified).
  • Critical Thinking: Strong critical thinking, problem solving, decision making, planning, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Interpersonal Effectiveness: Emotional intelligence, diplomacy, conflict management, delegation, diversity awareness, and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential material.
  • Communication: Excellent English language skills, both oral and written; active listening and balanced feedback.
  • Customer Service & Organizational Awareness: Strong customer focus, ability to build quality and performance culture.
  • Self‑Management: Effective time management, stress management, self‑motivation, and the ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Flexibility: Ability to work remotely as required and in a fast‑paced, multi‑site environment.
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and EMR usage.
