Job summary

Qualifications

Job Description Summary

Provides safe, accurate and efficient patient care, including but not limited to: patient assessment, review of labs and vital signs, medication safety, dose verification, and drug administration. Follows all Job Breakdown Instructions (JBIs) associated with role. Provides triage care when necessary. Communicates patient condition effectively to multidisciplinary team members.

Key Performance Areas

Safely and accurately administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, biotherapy, supportive care, and non‑oncologic agents to patients as ordered by providers. Uses Oncology Nurse’s Society (ONS) standards and guidelines. Accurately and safely disposes of biohazardous waste per OSHA and NIOSH guidelines. Responsible for new and ongoing patient education, continued patient assessment, and support. Documents thoroughly, accurately, and timely in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) of treatments rendered. Ensures appropriate charges are captured following guidelines for medication and activity administration. Follows proper patient identification per JBI for all encounters. Educates patients and caregivers about medications, side effects, and treatment courses. Interacts with patients and families in a caring, professional manner. Manages telephone triage, prioritizing incoming calls and messages from patients, families, hospitals, nursing facilities, pharmacies, and physician offices from emergent to non‑urgent and responds in an appropriate timeframe. Supports inventory and restocking of medical supplies, recommends purchase of new items as needed, and places stock in storage areas in a timely manner. Completes annual safety and nursing trainings, attends mandatory staff meetings, maintains confidentiality of patient and employee information, and assists in training new employees per JBIs. Expected to work at any Company location to meet business needs on an as‑needed basis within reasonable expectations. Will also work overtime when given sufficient notice. Performs other duties and projects as assigned. Complies with all federal and state laws and regulations related to patient privacy, patient rights, personnel law, safety, labor, and employment law. Adheres to Company and departmental policies, IT policies, and Disaster Plan.

Job Qualifications and Requirements:

• Nursing Degree

Certifications/Licenses

• Unencumbered RN License in state of employment or multi‑state license
• Current CPR and BLS certifications
• Valid Driver’s License and vehicle for travel to other clinic locations as needed

Previous Experience (including Minimum Years Of Experience)

• Experience with hematology/oncology patients in a clinic or hospital setting
• Ability to assess patient needs and condition essential. Must have strong critical thinking skills and the ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Fluency in English with excellent oral and written communication skills required.
