Job summary

Paycom - ATS seeks a Registered Nurse for Critical Care Transport in Virginia Beach to provide high-quality care during patient transport. You will work with Critical Care Paramedics, perform triage and treatments, and prioritize safety throughout transport.

Requirements include RN licensure, 3–5 years ICU/CCU experience, and current BLS/ACLS/PALS credentials with 90-day timing. Sign-on bonus of $25,000 accompanies a 2-year full-time commitment.

Qualifications

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Currently licensed, certified or registered by the appropriate state agencies.
  • 3-5 years ICU/Critical Care experience preferred.
  • EMS/ER experience preferred.
  • Current RN license(s) for states of practice.
  • Current certifications in BLS/CPR, ACLS, and PALS are required 90 days of hire.
  • Current PHTLS or other trauma cert and NRP certifications are preferred and required within 90 days of hire.
  • CCRN or CFRN required within 18 months of hire.
  • Must obtain VA EMT-B certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Competence in advanced practice skills as defined by Medical Director.
  • Must have the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision, high stress environments.

Responsibilities

  • Provide effective, safe care to any patient transported.
  • Provide nursing care from initial contact until care is relinquished to the accepting facility in collaboration with Critical Care Paramedic.
  • Attend required staff and educational meetings.
  • Perform duties on the Critical Care Unit.
  • Maintain certifications and licenses as mandated by the position.
  • Complies with all Federal, State and Local Rules and Regulations.
  • Communicate with RN and/or MD from transferring facilities.
  • Maintain a safe, clean and compliant transport environment.
  • Report medical equipment failure and assist with repairs as directed.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities and continuing education.

Job Location: Virginia Beach, VA 23454, Position Type: Lifecare Medical Transports, Job Category: Nurse (RN, NP, etc.), * $25,000 sign on bonus with a 2-year Full-Time employment commitment.

Functions withing the Critical Care Transport team in collaboration with Critical Care Paramedics. Provides high quality nursing care including, but not limited to, assessment, triage, and treatment utilizing standards and guidelines established by the Medical Director, assesses the nature and extent of illness or injury to establish and prioritize the care needed for safe transport of the critical patient to the appropriate facility; is responsible for carrying out the mission and goals, assuring that safety remains the highest priority throughout the transport.

Specific Duties:
  • Provide effective, safe care to any patient transported.
  • Provide nursing care from the initial contact until patient care is relinquished to the accepting medical facility in collaboration with Critical Care Paramedic.
  • Attend required staff and educational meetings.
  • Perform duties on the Critical Care Unit.
  • Maintain certifications and licenses as mandated by the position.
  • Complies with all Federal, State and Local Rules and Regulations
  • Maintain positive communication effectively while interfacing with fellow employees, patients, referring hospitals, EMS representatives and the community at large.
  • Uphold and adhere to all policies and procedures.
  • Knowledgeable in use and routine maintenance of all equipment and supplies used by
  • Responsible for reporting medical equipment failure and taking initial steps to ensure repair of equipment as directed. Maintains adequate supplies onboard aircraft to deliver patient care.
  • Performs advanced skills and procedures as approved by the Medical Director.
  • Serves as a role model, educator, and clinical resource.
  • Participates in continuing and outreach education programs.
  • Participates in quality improvement activities as assigned.
  • Undertakes and maintains projects as assigned.
  • Maintain a clean and operational environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Communicate with RN and or MD from transferring facilities.
  • Have sufficient knowledge of ambulance operations, standard ALS protocols in order to streamline patient care between Critical Care Paramedic and RN on transports.
  • Continuous CCT and Cardiac Arrest chart review.
  • Performs other duties as directed by management.
Qualifications: Minimum Requirements:
  • Must possess a high degree of personal integrity and responsibility.
  • Currently licensed, certified or registered by the appropriate state agencies.

  • Must have the ability to work in a fast paced, hectic, high pressure environment.
  • Must have the ability to simultaneously manage multiple activities without error.
  • Must have the ability to work efficiently and interact in a constructive and professional manner with other employees, public safety personnel and medical staff.
  • Must have the ability to work effectively and professionally with patients, customers, clients, family members, bystanders, and the general public in such a manner as to reflect positively on the company.
Physical Requirements:
  • The ability to use hands to perform medical procedures and assessments, reach with arms, and speak and hear.
  • The ability to sit, stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and smell for several hours at a time.
  • The ability to maintain adequate physical conditioning to be able to perform job duties.
  • The ability to perform job duties at high stress levels requiring employee to function effectively and independently while maintaining good working relationships with partners, patients, and customers.
  • The ability to reach, push and pull, and to frequently lift and/or move up to 80 pounds.
  • The ability to perform job duties near moving mechanical parts when outside weather conditions may be hazardous.
  • The ability to perform job duties while frequently being exposed to blood-borne pathogens or airborne particles, fumes and gases.
  • The ability to complete all job duties during any and all hours of the day and night.
