• Conduct monthly inventories of supplies and meds.
• Communicate with parents, guardians, and staff about student health.
• Purchase medications and medical supplies.
• Participate in nurses’ on-call rotation.
• Serve as staff nurse as needed.
• Collect wellness data and produce monthly Utilization Report.
• Plan overtime and on-call staffing to ensure policy compliance.
• Mentor students and model appropriate behavior.
• Ensure proper storage, handling, and disposal of hazardous wastes.

SUMMARY OF POSITION FUNCTION

Assists in administering the Center’s Health and Wellness Services Program.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist the Health and Wellness Services program in accordance with DOL guidelines, federal, state and city laws and regulations.
• Oversees scheduling of sick call, infirmary coverage, and environmental health, physical and dental exams in accordance with DOL guidelines.
• Inspects the food service facility and dormitories regularly.
• Assist with the management of medical records and the Health Management Information System.
• Develops and maintains an inventory control system for medication, equipment and medical supplies.
• Conducts inventories of supplies and medications monthly.
• Communicates with parents, legal guardians and other personnel regarding students’ health and well-being.
• Purchases medication and medical supplies.
• Participates in nurses’ on-call rotation.
• Functions as staff nurse as needed.
• Collects data and maintains wellness monthly Utilization Report.
• Plans, organizes and controls the use of overtime and on-call staff to insure compliance with Center and ETR policy and procedures.
• Models appropriate behaviors, mentors students and monitors both positive and negative behaviors through interventions.
• Ensures the proper storage, handling and disposal of hazardous wastes generated by the health and wellness center
