The Registered Nurse works in collaboration and coordination with Physicians,
healthcare team members, and families to provide safe, effective, efficient, quality care to
Western Maryland Hospital Center patients/residents. The Registered Nurse will utilize
Nursing Professional Standards of Practice, Nursing Code of Ethics and WMHC Code of
Conduct to ensure such care. Utilizing the nursing process, the RN is responsible for
assessing patient/resident health problems and needs, developing and implementing
care plans, evaluating progress toward attainment of goals/outcomes, educating
patient/resident/family on illness and condition, and providing emotional support to
patients/residents/families. The RN is responsible for carrying out Physician and
Licensed Independent Practitioner (LIP- CRNP and PA) orders and treatments. The RN
coordinates and delegates duties to other health care personnel with appropriate
follow-up of outcomes.
Education: Determined by the Maryland State Board of Nursing under the licensing requirements for Registered Nurses.

Candidates for positions in this classification must possess a current license as a Registered Nurse from the Maryland State Board of Nursing, 4140 Patterson Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21215 or possess a current multi-state license in party states that candidates have declared as primary states of residence.
2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of an automobile. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
3. Employees in this classification may be required to successfully complete cardiopulmonary resuscitation training and maintain current certification.
