Primary Responsibilities
- Provide effective and efficient telephone nursing advice that include telephone triage (included but limited to Barton Schmitt Pediatric Protocols), health information, case and disease management, patient education, referral, and care coordination with other organizations or providers
- Provide patient care within scope of practice, including services supported by medically approved protocols, with/without provider encounter such as medication administration, and lab procedures
- Educate patients and families on vaccines, medications, procedures, etc.
- Administer medications (PO, SQ, ID and IM) and inhalation treatment as ordered by the providers
- Process and approve patient prescription refills per Allegro standing ordering guidelines
- Communicate appropriate information to providers and other health team members in a timely manner. Collaborate with all clinic staff and clinic manager
- Chart all actions (phone calls, procedures, etc.), complete and send tasks in EHR
- Complete patient assessments and triage walk in patients, record patient histories, symptoms, and observations
- Promote atmosphere of patient care and customer service excellence, respecting patient rights, confidentiality, diversity, and developmental needs. Participate in committee and quality improvement activities as requested
- Promote compliance with OSHA standards for clinical activities
- Monitor and manage nurse room appointments
- Ability to run emergency codes
- Obtain patient x-rays after appropriate training performed at Allegro
- Perform Medical Assistant duties if needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Must be willing to travel to all clinics, if necessary
- Must be available to work on weekend and holiday rotations
Requirements- Previous nursing experience is preferred
- Must be proficient in computer navigation, task management and working with several software programs at the same time
- Previous customer service experience
- Maintain good attendance record
- Excellent customer service skills with a positive attitude
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent interpersonal/people skills
- Strong organizational/multi-tasking skills
- Enjoy working in a fast-paced patient focused environment with ongoing changes
- Must have reliable transportation and be willing to travel to all clinics as staffing needs change
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Pre-Employment Requirements:
- Background check
- Drug testing in compliance with Washington State Bill 5123 for this safety-sensitive position.
- To uphold safety for all employees and patients, we continue to require vaccination status for all new hires, including remote or hybrid schedules, at time of hire and annually
- Current COVID booster, or as newly released, and annually each fall
- We require flu immunizations at time of hire, or as newly released, and annually each fall
- Various other immunization requirements that we can discuss during your interview
- All employees are currently required to wear a surgical, KN95 or N95 mask at all times while in clinic, patient facing
Summary
Education:
- Current WA State Registered Nurse License
- Current CPR certificate
- Associates Degree in Nursing Required. Bachelors, preferred
Schedule- 10 hours shifts: Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday. 30 hours per week
- Week Day off: Monday and Thursday
- Schedules are built out 2 months in advance.
- Employees are required to work (or be back up/on call) one weekend day per month. Also required to work one holiday each year.
- Weekend and holidays include additional compensation differentials.
Work Environment/Physical Demands
The following is required to perform the essential functions of this role.
While performing the duties of this job the employee regularly works in an office/clinic setting, are as follows:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Prolonged periods of standing, walking and bending
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English and communicate effectively
