Job summary

Bridgeway Community Health in Salem, Oregon seeks a Registered Nurse to join our Medically Managed Withdrawal treatment team. This full-time swing shift position (Thursday through Saturday) focuses on direct patient care in an inpatient setting and requires adherence to the Oregon Nurse Practice Act.

You will perform nursing assessments, administer medications, document care, coordinate with physicians, and participate in discharge planning.

Qualifications

  • Requires an Associate Degree or higher in Nursing and a current unencumbered license to practice as a registered nurse in the state of Oregon at the time of appointment.
  • Experience working with people suffering from the disease of addiction is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews and admits clients and supports care plans with the nursing team.
  • Performs nursing assessments and documents findings and actions.
  • Administers medications and treatments under physician or advanced practice direction.
  • Maintains accurate medical documentation and records.
  • Coordinates appointments with physicians and other care providers.
  • Educates clients on health issues and discharge planning as directed.

Registered Nurse

to join our growing Medically Managed Withdrawal treatment team! Full-time swing shift Thursday/Friday/Saturday

Primary Purpose

Provides nursing care to individuals in an inpatient medically managed withdrawal setting, with a focus on the provision of direct care that promotes health, prevents disease, and treats illness of the individual. Operates according to the Oregon State Board of Nursing Nurse Practice Act.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conducts reviews of client admits, gathers additional information when needed to support client care plan.
  • Reviews for consistency, MARS, Shift notes and Progress notes from LPN'S. Reports errors or inconsistent documentation to nurse supervisor.
  • Conducts pharmacy/medication cart audits and reports discrepancies to supervisor.
  • Reviews and maintains Medical Protocols for use by nurses, maintains binder with protocols and desk references.
  • Administers medications and performs treatments and procedures under direction of a physician assistant or physician Administers medications and performs treatments and procedures under direction of a nurse practitioner or physician
  • Completes accurate and thorough medical documentation, which may include clients' medical charts, medication records, any pertinent observations, computerized dispensing, and pharmacy records, and required state or department database entry.
  • Conducts nursing assessment on all inpatient clients. Conducts and documents initial and ongoing focused nursing assessments of the health status of clients. Reports findings to the nursing supervisor or licensed physician as needed. Utilizes appropriate physician's standing orders.
  • Prepares and dispenses or provides for the dispensing of appropriate medication or treatment. Provides client assessments as appropriate, evaluates for side effects and potential interactions. Adheres to accepted medical practices and medication management per OAR/ORS.
  • Updates and maintains prescription records for treatment and all medical records associated with the storing and dispensing of medications. Complies with federal, state and program requirements related to record keeping and documentation.
  • Coordinates client appointments with physician(s).
  • At direction of a physician, educates clients in relation to other disease processes and refers as needed to other medical agencies for follow-up for health-related issues.
  • Maintains records of nursing services including the recording of statistics and compilation of requested reports.
  • Prepares and labels specimens. Maintains clinic equipment and supplies.
  • Charts on all clients seen for medical support.
  • Participates in discharge planning for client's ongoing medical needs.
  • Conducts annual T.B. skin testing on all clients and staff.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
  • Attends staff meetings and works as a team member to identify and implement quality of services.
  • Maintains an organized and clean work environment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience

Experience, Education, and Credentials

  • Requires an Associate Degree or higher in Nursing and a current unencumbered license to practice as a registered nurse in the state of Oregon at the time of appointment.
  • Experience working with people suffering from the disease of addiction is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Must have comprehensive knowledge of, and skill in performing, current nursing practice.
  • Apply nursing knowledge and principles and policies underlying the administration of a nursing service;
  • Ability to recognize the needs and concerns of individuals in the course of medical treatments; Ability to maintain confidential records and information.
  • Ability to accept and abide by supervision received;
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Skilled in English usage and in basic mathematics;
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers and the public;
  • Qualified candidates must be able to pass a criminal background check.

  • Personal computer for word processing and any medical equipment necessary to perform the functions of this position.

Compensation
  • Wage will depend on experience and credentials.
  • An additional stipend is available for Spanish/English bilingual employees
