Nursing practice demonstrated high integrity, nursing values, ethical and moral principles. Practice professional nursing consistent and within the scope of the Iowa Board of Nursing Practice Act. Maintain current nursing license with no restrictions from the Iowa Board of Nursing.
Utilize the nursing process collecting comprehensive data pertinent to the patient’s health and/or situation. Document relevant data in a timely manner accurately and concisely. Admission, intersystem review and nursing assessments completed as part of care. Chronic disease management and care. Analyze the assessment data to determine the diagnosis and health concerns. Coordinates care delivery with colleagues and multiple disciplines.
Competence with all equipment and operational systems. Participates and leads training and staff development. Must be knowledgeable of medication administration and management administered, including knowing the medication class and action. Responsible to ensure patients know what medications they are taking and that they understand the dosage and possible side effects. Assess for patient competence and compliance including self-administration program. Coordination of medication ordering and inventory including shipping and returning of medications with Central Pharmacy staff. Respond promptly and competently to emergencies providing care that is needed coordinating emergency medical services when indicated. Communicate effectively in a variety of formats in all areas of practice. Collaborate with colleagues and supervisors when necessary and appropriate. Utilize appropriate resources to plan and provide nursing services that are safe, effective and financially responsible. Practice in an environmentally safe and health manner. Provide clinical direction, delegation and guidance to LPN and other assistive personnel in the provision of nursing care. Other duties as assigned within the scope of expertise and professional licensing.
There are 2 positions: 1:00 pm - 11:00 pm and 9:00 pm - 7:00 am with every other weekend off.
Licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of Iowa by the Iowa Board of Nursing or licensure as a Registered Nurse in accordance with the Nurse Licensure Compact Administrator's Agreement of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing.
