Job summary

Murfreesboro Rehabilitation Hospital in Rutherford County is hiring Registered Nurses (RN) to join our fast-paced, specialized team within an acute hospital-based inpatient rehab setting. We focus on neuro and ortho care with extensive therapy services and a supportive, collaborative work culture.

Schedule options include full-time three 12-hour shifts per week (weekend rotations possible), part-time two 12-hour shifts, or PRN, with day or night rotations.

Qualifications

• Graduated from an accredited school of nursing.
• Current RN license as required by the state of employment.
• One year of nursing experience; psychiatric/mental/behavioral or substance use experience a plus.
• CPR and de-escalation and restraint certification required.
• First aid may be required based on state or facility requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide and coordinate care by assessing patients’ physical and behavioral health needs.
• Develop and implement nursing care plans.
• Maintain medical records and educate patients and their families about various physical and behavioral health conditions.
• Provide nursing care and services within the standards and scope of nursing practice as defined within regulations and facility policies.
• Ensure physicians’ orders are legible and transcribed accurately; update on patient status and document changes.
• Notify physicians of significant changes in patient status and treatment response.
• Complete admission and discharge processing accurately and efficiently.
• Demonstrate professional rapport with patients and maintain boundaries and privacy.
• Coordinate activities of the unit and communicate with patients, visitors, and staff.

Murfreesboro Rehabilitation Hospital is hiring Registered Nurses (RN) to be a part of our fast-paced and dedicated, innovative team with a highly experienced, new Director of Rehab.

Murfreesboro Rehabilitation Hospital is located within TrustPoint Hospital offering the only acute, hospital-based inpatient physical rehabilitation in Rutherford County.

Specializing in neuro and ortho, our patients are referred by outside hospitals in surrounding areas to our in-patient setting. We offer occupational, physical, speech, and respiratory therapy, in addition to other services like IV therapy, wound care, and rehabilitation nursing.

Schedule Options

Med/Surg experience highly preferred.

• Full Time: Three 12-hour shifts per week (possible weekend rotations)
• Part Time: Two 12-hour shifts per week (possible weekend rotations)
• PRN: As needed
• Shift: Day shift (7a-7p) OR Night shift (7p-7a)

Our rehabilitation hospital has a large therapy gym with state-of-the-art equipment and an "activities of daily living area" which includes a kitchen and laundry area. Patients receive focused care and comprehensive support they need throughout their journey to improved health.

Registered Nurse Essential Functions

• Provide and coordinate care by assessing patients’ physical and behavioral health needs.
• Develop and implement nursing care plans.
• Maintain medical records and educate patients and their families about various physical and behavioral health conditions.
• Provide nursing care and services within the standards and scope of nursing practice as defined within the state Nurse Practice Act regulations, policies, procedures, and protocols, as well as facility and corporate policies and procedures.
• Ensure physicians’ orders are legible if taken verbally and transcribed appropriately per policy and procedure.
• Ensure patients’ status is assessed on an ongoing basis and pertinent information is gathered and documented.
• Notify physicians of significant changes in status such as difficulties with detox, medical emergency, change in medical status regarding response to medications, and related challenges.
• Ensure that initial nursing treatment plans are completed upon admission and that all nursing treatment plans are specific to assessed needs.
• Demonstrate knowledge and utilization of universal precautions in providing direct patient care.
• Accurately administer medications per ordered note.
• Document accurate count of controlled substance medication administration on required documents.
• Complete admission and discharge processing efficiently and accurately as directed.
• Exhibit therapeutic rapport with patients by maintaining professional boundaries, respecting personal space, giving patients direct attention, and maintaining rational detachment.
• Provide direction or coordinate the activities of the unit as directed.
• Communicate therapeutically and professionally with patients, visitors, co-workers, and others involved inpatient treatment.

Education/Licensure/Experience/Skill Requirements

• Must have graduated from an accredited school of nursing.
• Must possess a current Registered Nurse (RN) license as required by the state of employment or be eligible to practice nursing in accordance with state requirements
• One year of nursing experience; previous psychiatric, mental, behavioral, or substance use nursing experience a plus
• CPR and de-escalation and restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
• First aid may be required based on state or facility requirements.
