Job summary

The Arkansas Department of Human Services is seeking Registered Nurses (RNs) to provide direct patient care in hospitals, clinics, and community health programs. Job Summary

Registered Nurses (RNs) provide direct patient care in a variety of healthcare settings, including hospitals, clinics, and community health programs. RNs assess patient health, develop care plans, administer treatments, and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality care.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Assess patient health, monitor vital signs, and document patient progress.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with medical orders.
  • Develop, implement, and update patient care plans.
  • Educate patients and families on health conditions and wellness practices.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary care teams to plan and implement care strategies.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and comply with health regulations.

  • Knowledge of nursing principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to perform physical assessments and recognize changes in patient condition.
  • Proficiency in administering medications and treatments safely.
  • Strong communication skills for patient interaction and team collaboration.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in Arkansas.

Other Information

This is an Extra Help position that can work up to 1800 hours per Fiscal Year. This position carries no state benefits / leave accrual.

Position may be housed in a different DHS office than listed. In-state and occasional overnight travel. Must be able to drive a car, travel by foot to various locations, climb stairs, read/follow map directions. Independently travel to locations including but not limited to client residences, hospitals, nursing homes, rehab facilities, DHS offices, and provider agencies.

Verification of licensure is completed through the Arkansas State Board of Nursing online search registry. Disciplinary action(s) will be reviewed and considered when selecting applicant for hire. Computer skills including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel. One to two years verifiable RN work experience with in-home services programs or programs providing services to aged or disabled individuals. Strong organizational and time management skills preferred.
