Job summary

Avow in Fort Myers, FL seeks a dedicated Registered Nurse for hospice care. The role covers multiple units and requires cross-training within the organization to support patient and family needs at end of life.

You will assess and manage pain, educate families, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team. The position features weekend 12-hour shifts (8p-8:30a) with a $10,000 sign-on bonus and a $10.00/hour weekend differential, along with comprehensive benefits and ongoing education

Qualifications

  • Active Florida RN license and CPR certification.
  • Bachelor's in nursing preferred; CHPN preferred.
  • Experience in hospice or end-of-life care is preferred.

Our Crisis Care Team is looking to add a full time RN to provide compassionate, supportive care to our hospice patients in Lee County. The schedule for this position is 3-12 shifts, every weekend, 8p-8:30a. It is a great time to join Avow and be part of our growth-Apply Today!There is a $10,000 Sign On Bonus for this position and a $10.00/hour shift differential for committing to an every weekend schedule.Job Summary:Multiple areas utilize staff, including, but not limited to, the Inpatient Unit (IPU), Care 24 field, Care24 Triage and Continuous Home Care (CHC). In all roles, the RN utilizes the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation and evaluation. The RN is skilled at assessment and management of pain and other complex symptoms frequently present at the end of life, including education and support to patient and family. The RN works with the interdisciplinary hospice team to plan and direct services to meet the needs of individuals and families.Essential Job Functions:All Hospice RN’s will cross train to other departments to meet the needs of the organization.Provide nursing services, treatments, diagnostic and preventive procedures requiring the skills of a registered nurse according to policies, procedures and protocols.Participate in interdisciplinary group meetings as needed.Assists in development, implementation and revision of the interdisciplinary team care plan for each patient and family. Establishes goals, interventions including the patient and family in the process.Assess patient and report to the attending physician and appropriate interdisciplinary team members, response to treatments and medications as well as changes in the patient’s physical or emotional condition.Coordinate care with other interdisciplinary team members and with community resources as needed.Teach, supervise and counsel the patient/family regarding pain and symptom management and psycho-social aspects of care for the terminally ill.Assess and maintain patient safety.Teach the patient and family/caregiver self-care techniques as appropriate. Must be able to utilize device to document in Electronic Medical Record (EMR).Supervisory Responsibilities: This job supervises care provided by LPN and HHA’s.Education/Experience: Associates Degree in Nursing, Bachelor in Nursing (BSN) degree preferred. CHPN preferred. Hospice experience preferred.Language Skills: Communication skills of reading, writing, and speaking in English.Mathematical Skills: Math skills needed including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and percentages/fractions with ability to calculate medication doses. Nurse must successfully pass the math test given at time of interview prior to starting orientation and annually.Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Current Registered Nurse License to practice in the state of Florida Healthcare Provider CPR required upon hire and maintained. CHPN preferred; Required within 2 years of employment.
