Qualifications

  • Current, active, and unrestricted RN license.
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN, BSN, or higher).
  • Ability to pass a federal background investigation and VA suitability.
  • Must be able to work on-site at the Dayton VA Medical Center, Dayton, Ohio.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to Veterans across assigned clinical areas.
  • Administer medications and therapies per physician orders and protocols.
  • Monitor and document patient conditions and vital signs in the EHR.
  • Coordinate with physicians and care team to ensure quality care.
  • Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
  • Respond to urgent situations and escalate care as needed.
  • Maintain compliance with VA policies and safety regulations.

Akicita Federal is hiring Registered Nurses (RNs) to deliver direct patient care and clinical support services for the Dayton VA Medical Center in Dayton, Ohio. Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to Veterans across assigned clinical areas, including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation of patient outcomes
  • Administer medications, treatments, and therapeutic procedures in accordance with physician orders and established clinical protocols
  • Monitor and document patient conditions, vital signs, and responses to treatment accurately in the electronic health record
  • Coordinate with physicians, specialists, and other members of the care team to ensure continuity and quality of patient care
  • Educate patients and their families on diagnoses, treatment plans, discharge instructions, and health maintenance strategies
  • Respond to urgent and emergent patient situations, initiating appropriate interventions and escalating care as needed
  • Maintain compliance with VA policies, Joint Commission standards, and applicable federal regulations governing patient care and safety

$104,000 - $106,079 a year

Requirements
  • Current, active, and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license valid for practice
  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program (Associate Degree in Nursing, Bachelor of Science in Nursing, or higher)
  • Ability to pass a federal background investigation and meet VA personnel suitability requirements prior to beginning work
  • Ability to work on-site at the Dayton VA Medical Center, Dayton, Ohio

  • Prior experience providing nursing care within a VA, Department of Defense, or other federal healthcare setting
  • Familiarity with VA electronic health record systems (e.g., VistA, CPRS, or Oracle Health)
  • Experience working with Veteran populations or an understanding of military culture and service-related health conditions
  • Additional certifications relevant to specialty nursing areas (e.g., BLS, ACLS, specialty board certification)
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a high-volume, interdisciplinary clinical environment
