Job summary

Children's Health Dallas is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to provide direct patient care in a developmentally appropriate, collaborative setting. The role requires use of the nursing process and coordination with the care team to create a comprehensive plan for patients and families.

Independent in performing RN duties, you will assess, plan, implement and evaluate care, with emphasis on safety, quality, and culturally competent practice.

Qualifications

  • BSN in Nursing is required.
  • Registered Nurse license in Texas.
  • ACLS/BLS/NRP/PALS certifications required per department.

Responsibilities

  • Prescribe, delegate and coordinate patient care as part of the nursing team.
  • Ensure safety, effectiveness, patient rights and guest relations in care.
  • Oversee care delivered by the patient care team and coordinate the plan.
  • Educate patients and families, considering diversity and inclusion.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other health professionals to implement care plans.

Summary

Independently performs the functions of a registered nurse in direct patient care. Utilizes the nursing process in the delivery of developmentally appropriate care. Also works in collaboration with other health care professionals to provide a comprehensive plan of care to meet the patient/family needs. This job is intended for Registered Nurse Pool assignments.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible and accountable for prescribing, delegating and coordinating patient care. Uses clinical judgment based on nursing skills acquired through formal and informal experiential knowledge and evidence based guidelines to globally assess the patient's situation and through critical thinking and clinical decision making, develop an appropriate plan of care for the patient, with the aim of promoting comfort.
  • Accountable that patient care meets standards of safety, effectiveness, patient rights and guest relations.
  • Oversees care delivered by patient care team; coordinates plan of care.
  • Provides education and facilitates learning for patients, families, and patient care team in a way that demonstrates a sensitivity to recognize, appreciate, and incorporate differences related to diversity.
  • Collaborates with physicians, families and other healthcare professionals to assist in developing and implementing an appropriate plan of care in a way that promotes/encourages each person's contributions towards achieving the best patient outcomes.

WORK EXPERIENCE
  • At least 1 year registered nursing experience is required upon hire
EDUCATION
  • BSN in Nursing is required.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
  • Registered Nurse-1N-RN Essential Current license to practice professional nursing in the State of Texas
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support-2R-ACLS Essential ACLS/NRP/PALS (Department specific requirements - see addendum)
  • Basic Life Support-2R-BLS Essential Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers as required by CP 1.20 Life Support Course Requirements
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program-2R-NRP Essential ACLS/NRP/PALS (Department specific requirements - see addendum)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support-2R-PALS Essential ACLS/NRP/PALS (Department specific requirements - see addendum)
