Job summary

Children’s Health in Dallas seeks a Registered Nurse for weekend option night shifts to provide direct patient care in acute care settings. The role requires collaboration with physicians and care teams to deliver developmentally appropriate care and ensure patient safety.

The RN will utilize the nursing process and participate in care planning, patient education, and coordination across units to promote positive outcomes for pediatric patients and families.

Qualifications

  • Pediatric nursing experience is preferred and required for independent practice.
  • Nursing skills with patient assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.
  • Experience collaborating with physicians and care teams in a clinical setting.
  • Ability to apply evidence-based guidelines to patient care.

Responsibilities

Summary

Independently performs the functions of a registered nurse in direct patient care. Utilizes the nursing process in the delivery of developmentally appropriate care. Also works in collaboration with other health care professionals to provide a comprehensive plan of care to meet the patient/family needs. Critical care settings are defined as intensive care units and/or emergency department.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible and accountable for prescribing, delegating and coordinating patient care. Uses clinical judgment based on nursing skills acquired through formal and informal experiential knowledge and evidence based guidelines to globally assess the patient's situation and through critical thinking and clinical decision making, develop an appropriate plan of care for the patient, with the aim of promoting comfort.
  • Accountable that patient care meets standards of safety, effectiveness, patient rights and guest relations.
  • Oversees care delivered by patient care team; coordinates plan of care.
  • Provides education and facilitates learning for patients, families, and patient care team in a way that demonstrates a sensitivity to recognize, appreciate, and incorporate differences related to diversity.
  • Collaborates with physicians, families and other healthcare professionals to assist in developing and implementing an appropriate plan of care in a way that promotes/encourages each person's contributions towards achieving the best patient outcomes. from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
WORK EXPERIENCE
  • At least 1 pediatric registered nursing experience is required upon hire
EDUCATION
  • BSN in Nursing required.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
  • Registered Nurse-1N-RN Essential Current license to practice professional nursing in the State of Texas - Time Frame: Upon Hire
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support-2R-ACLS Essential ACLS/NRP/PALS (Department specific requirements - see addendum)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program-2P-NRP Essential ACLS/NRP/PALS (Department specific requirements - see addendum)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support-2R-PALS Essential ACLS/NRP/PALS (Department specific requirements - see addendum)
  • Basic Life Support-2R-BLS Essential Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers as required by CP 1.20 Life Support Course Requirements - Time Frame: Upon Hire
