Job summary

Covington Hospital is seeking a part-time Emergency Department Registered Nurse to provide high-quality acute care in a fast-paced ED. You will assess, triage, and treat patients across all ages, following established protocols and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

The role requires two years of ER experience, nursing licensure in good standing, CPR/ACLS/PALS or ENPC and TNCC when available, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Two years of emergency room experience.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current Licensure with the State Board of Nursing for the practicing state.
  • Current BCLS/CPR, ACLS, PALS or ENPC, and TNCC preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Patient assessment and triage of ED patients.

Below is an overview of the key aspects of the role:**Responsibilities:** • Patient Assessment: Conduct thorough head-to-toe assessments and psychosocial evaluations of patients when they arrive, determining the severity of their condition. • Triage: Assign triage categories to ensure timely care based on the urgency of each patient's condition. • Emergency Care: Provide care to patients of all ages, including neonates, children, adults, and geriatrics, following established protocols and guidelines. • Medication Administration: Administer medications accurately while adhering to the five rights of medication administration (right patient, right medication, right dose, right route, right time). • Supervision: Oversee the work of support staff such as Emergency Room Technicians (ERTs) and other healthcare personnel, ensuring a collaborative and efficient workflow. • Patient Advocacy: Communicate effectively with patients and their families, explaining procedures and treatment plans to provide emotional support and education. • Collaboration: Work closely with physicians and other healthcare staff to develop and implement patient care plans. • Infection Control: Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment to prevent infection and promote patient safety. • Continuous Education: Participate in ongoing training and professional development activities, attending staff meetings, and engaging in quality improvement initiatives.**Position Requirements:** • Two years of emergency room experience. • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. • Current Licensure with the State Board of Nurse Examiners for their state. • Current BCLS/CPR, ACLS, PALS or ENPC, and TNCC preferred • Educational requirements appropriate for meeting the age-specific needs of patients presenting to the emergency center, including neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients, including emergency procedures required for stabilizing patients of all ages. • Validate clinical skills outlined in the orientation checklist and maintain annual clinical competency. • Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.**Personal Attributes:** • Team Player: Ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary team. • Empathy: Demonstrate compassion and understanding while dealing with patients in crisis. • Critical Thinking: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make quick decisions in emergencies.**Working Conditions:** Physical Demands—While performing the duties of this job, the employee must lift and move up to 50 pounds with good body mechanics and frequently stand.
