Job summary

The Conway Public School District is seeking a Registered Nurse to oversee the school health care program and provide nursing support within the district. The RN will manage medications, maintain student health records, and coordinate care with families, providers, and school staff.

The role requires AR-licensed RN with CPR certification, at least two years of nursing experience, and ability to work with children.

Qualifications

• Registered nurse licensed in Arkansas with board approval.
• Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation certified.
• Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation Instructor certification preferred.
• Minimum two years experience as a registered nurse.
• Ability to work with children; experience with children preferred.
• Basic computer aptitude

Responsibilities

• Follows and maintains knowledge of all District policies and procedures.
• Oversees the duties of the licensed practical nurse, when applicable.
• Supervises the administration of medications following state and District guidelines.
• Maintains records related to student care.
• Assists students with health-related needs, including self-care needs such as hygiene, toileting, catheterization, blood glucose monitoring, nutrition, tube feeding, etc.
• Oversees the training and supervision of paraprofessionals and other staff members who assist with student health-related needs
• Interacts with students, staff, and parents/guardians; resolves conflicts professionally.
• Oversees the coordination of medical information among the parent, the school, and the medical provider.
• Supervises a variety of student activities, including playground, cafeteria, bus loading/unloading, field trips, hallways, and other areas where students gather.
• Maintains secure confidential records, information, and inquiries.
• Evaluates student injuries, determines course of action, performs first aid.
• Completes and maintains communication logs with staff and parents, if appropriate.
• Participates in the development and implementation of health care plans.
• Oversees the immunization program maintenance.
• Coordinates and performs all screenings required by the Arkansas Board of Education.
• Other duties, as assigned.

Terms Of Employment

The contract length will be 187 days.

Evaluation

Based on local district policy and performed by the building principal who is assisted by the assistant principal in regard to evaluations.
