Job summary

The US Oncology Network is seeking a Full Time Registered Nurse for its location in Colorado Springs. Overview

Rocky Mountain Cancer Centers, Colorado's largest and most comprehensive provider of cancer care has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Registered Nurse in Colorado Springs at our Penrose location. We realize that it sounds cliché but it is true - taking care of cancer patients is a calling. It’s much more than a job. Salary Range: $36.00 - $45.00

Responsibilities

• Administers chemotherapy, hydration and other medications under the direction and supervision of a physician.
• Maintains knowledge of drug reimbursement procedures and completes all chemotherapy charge forms.
• Assures pre‑authorization and appropriate consent forms are obtained prior to administration of therapies.
• Demonstrates knowledge of ambulatory infusion pump use and maintenance, cleans pumps after use, and properly documents pump usage.
• Facilitates dose modification by assessing patient and labs, consulting protocol or treatment plan, calculating dose, and consulting physician regarding dosage modifications, including problems and symptom management.
• Performs venipuncture, accesses implanted ports and maintains central line catheter devices.
• Administers all medications using correct medication product, dosage/amount, route, time and technique.
• Displays appropriate technical skills for the administration of chemotherapy and medications, including venipuncture, central line access and infusion devices, programming portable infusion pumps for continuous drug delivery, and providing instruction to the patient and/or caregiver in the use of the pump at home.
• Documents nursing assessments, patient teaching and fluid and medication administration in the patient chart.
• Communicates all pertinent information and any interventions to the physician.
• Triages patient phone calls as needed and documents relevant information in the patient chart.
• Assesses patient/family needs and provides teaching and other instructional material.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education; BSN preferred.
• Registered Nurse state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in the practicing state.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Must maintain continuing education requirements.

Physical Requirements (Lifting, Standing, Etc.)

Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, mandatory manual and finger dexterity, eye‑hand coordination, standing and walking for extensive periods of time, and occasionally lifting and carrying items weighing up to 40 lbs. Corrected vision and hearing to normal range are required.
