Job summary

Rocky Mountain Cancer Centers in Longmont is seeking an Oncology Infusion Nurse to join our dedicated team. You will provide compassionate, skilled care to patients throughout their cancer journey while collaborating with physicians and oncology professionals.

Responsibilities include administering chemotherapy, hydration and other therapies under physician supervision, handling pre-authorizations, documentation, and patient education. A BSN is preferred and an active RN license is required.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.
  • RN license and current state registration.
  • Current BLS certification.
  • Minimum two years nursing experience; oncology experience preferred.
  • Continuing education requirements must be met.

Responsibilities

  • Administers chemotherapy, hydration and other medications under physician supervision.
  • Maintains knowledge of chemotherapy reimbursement procedures and completes charge forms.
  • Ensures pre-authorization and consent forms are obtained prior to therapies.
  • Operates ambulatory infusion pumps and documents usage.
  • Assesses patients and reports dose modifications and symptoms.
  • Venipuncture, port access and central line management.
  • Documents nursing assessments and patient teachings in charts.
  • Triages patient calls and documents information in charts.
  • Provides patient/family education and instructional materials.

Make a difference where it matters most. Rocky Mountain Cancer Centers is seeking a compassionate and skilled Oncology Infusion Nurse to join our dedicated team in Longmont. In this role, you will provide exceptional care and support to patients throughout their cancer journey while working alongside a collaborative team of physicians, advanced practice providers, and oncology professionals.

Salary Range: $37.00-46.00

  • Nurses with OCN certification are eligible for OCN Incentive Pay after 90 days of employment or upon obtainment of certification.
Responsibilities
  • Administers chemotherapy, hydration and other medications under the direction and supervision of a physician.
  • Maintains knowledge of drug reimbursement procedures. Completes all chemotherapy charge forms.
  • Assures pre-authorization and appropriate consent forms are obtained prior to administration of therapies.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of ambulatory infusion pump use and maintenance, cleaning pumps after use, and proper documentation of pump usage.
  • Facilitates dose modification by assessing patient, assessing labs, consulting protocol or treatment plan, calculating dose, and consulting physician regarding dosage modifications, including problems and symptom management.
  • Performs venipuncture, accesses implanted ports and maintains central lines catheter devices.
  • Administers all medications using correct medication product, dosage/amount, route, time and technique.
  • Displays appropriate technical skills for the administration of chemotherapy and medications to include, but not limited to, venipuncture, central line access and infusion devices, programs portable infusion pumps for continuous drug delivery, and provides instruction to the patient and/or caregiver in the use of the pump at home.
  • Documents nursing assessments, patient teaching and fluid and medication administration in the patient chart.
  • Communicates all pertinent information and any interventions to the physician.
  • Triages patient phone calls as needed and documents relevant information in the patient's chart.
  • Assesses patient/family needs and provides teaching and other instructional material
Qualifications

Graduate from an accredited program for professional nursing education, BSN preferred.

RN state license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state.

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Must maintain continuing education requirements.

Minimum two years nursing experience required, oncology experience preferred.
