Job description

Overview

Chicago ENT, Chicago's leading Otolaryngology practice, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. In this role, the Office Nurse will ensure efficient clinical operations and exceptional patient care delivery. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with various departments and demonstrate strong clinical skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities.

This role is a full-time exempt position with direct reporting to the Medical Director and indirect reporting to the Practice Administrator. This role is patient and provider facing and requires an onsite commitment.

Responsibilities
  • Core Responsibilities
  • Coordinate pre-operative screenings with referring physicians and hospital anesthesia departments.
  • Review clearance lab work, EKG, and other testing for potential contraindications, concerns.
  • Educate patients on details of their surgery, such as type of treatment, clearance requirements, expectations, and more.
  • Review and revise surgical orders with physicians to improve efficiency in scheduling.
  • Communicate with multiple hospital ORs for scheduling and coordination of care purposes.
  • Quality Assurance Program Management
  • Review, manage, and monitor the quality assurance program for all clinical departments as assigned by the Medical Director.
  • Collaborate with the Medical Director to implement and regularly monitor internal protocols to maintain high standards of patient care, compliance, and operational efficiency across clinical functions.
  • Oversight of Surgical Scheduling
  • Work closely with the Surgical Scheduling team to proactively review medical clearances for scheduled procedures.
  • Identify potential issues that may lead to last-minute cancellations due to anesthesia changes or rescheduling and take necessary actions to mitigate risks.
  • Directly manage the Clinical Associate (Triage/MedScribe) department, scheduling, time sheets, staffing and quality assurance.
  • Check in regularly with Clinicians to ensure the Triage department is supporting the needs of the physicians and their patients.
  • Provide support and guidance to triage staff, ensuring efficient and accurate handling of patient inquiries and concerns.
  • Address escalated clinical patient queries and complaints in a timely and professional manner.
  • Utilize clinical expertise to assess and resolve patient concerns, collaborating with appropriate departments as needed for resolution.
  • Additional Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care, including assessment, triage, and administration of treatments as prescribed by healthcare providers.
  • Assist with patient education and counseling on medical conditions, treatment plans, and preventive measures.
  • Maintain accurate and updated electronic health records (EHR) for all patient encounters and clinical activities.
  • Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary team members to optimize patient outcomes and satisfaction.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development activities to enhance clinical knowledge and skills.
  • Adhere to regulatory standards, policies, and procedures related to nursing practice, patient privacy, and safety protocols.
Qualifications
  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Illinois.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in an outpatient or ambulatory care setting.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems and Microsoft Office suite.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
  • Commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered care and maintaining confidentiality.
Supervisory Responsibility

This position supervises the Surgical Scheduling and Medical Associate department staff.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Registered Nurse license in good standing and in applicable state required.
