Job summary

Easterseals PORT Health in Burgaw, NC seeks a full-time Registered Nurse to oversee safety and healthcare for participants and staff at Henry's House respite site.

You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary clinical team, guide Medical Assistants, and ensure meticulous medical documentation to maintain a safe, therapeutic environment. Shifts include nights and weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• Must be a licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in good standing.
• Experience in residential or school settings preferred.
• Available for on-call nights, weekends, and varied shifts.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to support participants and staff.
• Commitment to safety and compassionate, trauma-informed care.

Responsibilities

• Ensure overall safety and healthcare needs of participants and staff.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary clinical team.

You will collaborate with the multidisciplinary clinical team, provide guidance to Medical Assistants, and ensure meticulous medical documentation is maintained for a safe and therapeutic environment. The work schedule varies, with occasional nights and weekends.

What We’re Looking For

• Must be a licensed Registered Nurse or any medical staff considered equivalent or higher
• Previous residential or school experience
• Ability to be on call 24 hours a day during respite stays
• Ability to work with a diverse group of people while demonstrating respect and consideration for all individuals including staff and participants
• Ability to communicate effectively and positively with staff members and participants in order to provide a safe and healthy environment
• Ability to enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency policies and procedures
• Demonstrated crisis intervention skills
• Ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to daily respite activities
• Appreciation and respect for the outdoors
• Professionalism, enthusiasm, creativity and a sense of humor
